Using parables to teach people is a classic method employed in the Middle East.  Jesus told parables in order that his listeners could take in some difficult concepts about God and start to think about them.  In most cases, the parables used by Jesus were almost like picture stories which remained easily in the memory and would be thought about many times.  You may be surprised by how easily you can recall the parable Jesus told.  Simply think which parable contains the following:

  1. “When I come back this way, I will pay you whatever else you spend on him.”
  2. “In the same way, I tell you, the angels of God rejoice over one sinner who repents.”
  3. “There was once a man who planted a vineyard”
  4. “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected people.”
  5. “Hurry out to the streets and alleys of the town….”
  6. “….the whole batch of dough rises.”
  7. “Then I will say to myself, Lucky man!”
  8. “Listen, then, if you have ears!”
  9. “What is the Kingdom of God like?  What shall I compare it with?”
  10. “He was still a long way from home….”
